Join us to create Issue 3 – Sound and Fury, releasing in July. The months of July, August and September present summer heat, freedom–or the desire for it, and the change into fall equinox. We are accepting stories and art about your spiritual experiences with expression, noise, peace, pressure and release, desire,  sound–inner, outer, material, spiritual, loud, soft, silent and anything in between. What does “Sound and Fury” elicit in you?

Soul Growth Radio gives voice to thinkers and feelers in the big world and small corners of our souls’ longings. We recognize that a community of storytelling—related to discoveries, flirtations, explorations, awakenings, journeys and generosities that stretch our nature and posit the presence of spirit in our lives—creates a wholeness and a home in each other.

Quarterly Theme
Each issue is organized around a theme. Next quarter’s issue is “Sound and Fury.”  Send us a Your Story or pitch or your art (see how below) on the theme, and be part of July’s conversation.

Types of submissions

Your Story
Readers are invited to submit personal stories about moments in your life in which you experienced spirit, or during which your spirituality (or curiosity about spirit) played a part. Stories are up to 750 words in length. Please send to submissions@wordpress-1142520-4023003.cloudwaysapps.com.

Life Byte (tiny stories)
Submit your tiny story about a moment of grace or growth. These usually portray brief interactions of big love or perspective or growth. Tiny stories for Life Byte should be 15-150 words.

Feature Story
Feature stories present a few different options for contributing.

In a given issue, this spot features a writer’s short or longer form stories. Stories up to 1500 words are delivered in one segment. Longer stories are serialized over two to four weeks of the issue’s delivery. Each segment of a serialized story can be up to 1500 words. If you have a short or long form narrative you would like to submit for consideration, please DO NOT SEND THE STORY. Rather, email a pitch describing the story and its themes to submissions@wordpress-1142520-4023003.cloudwaysapps.com.

Journalistic
Other angles represented in the Feature Story section are investigative pieces and character profiles. These can be up to 1500 words, or for an investigative series, can be serialized between two to four weeks. If you would like to pitch your idea for a journalistic piece, please email a pitch describing the subject and your angle to submissions@wordpress-1142520-4023003.cloudwaysapps.com.

Questions to get you considering

Is your life, and the journey you are on (or have completed) anchored in or affected by a spiritual element? An intuitive message, a voice that answers you when you ask it questions? A relative on the other side? A medical challenge turned spiritual awakening?
Do you pray or chant or recite mantras on a run or read energies?
Are there conversations about non-denominational spirituality you’re careful not to have in front of others?
Are there questions you’re dying to ask others who have these conversations, too? Or stories you’re itching to tell them?

This is the type of story Soul Growth Radio looks forward to sharing and reading together.

A note on our mission and growth goals

An important part of SGR’s mission is to support and promote the work of artists and writers, and to provide a platform for community voices.

We are curious about commerce and community. We wonder why the work of writers and artists in the US is so little valued on the whole, in such a way that writing and art often becomes currency itself rather than paid for by currency.

Our long term goal is that creators who give of their art and skill will be compensated for it. To that vision, we are designing formats by which contributors to Soul Growth Radio can eventually be paid. Actually, we are invested in innovating this arena, creating ways that bring consciousness to the offering that artists and writers present to their worlds. Art is spirit, after all.

In the meantime, we begin with what we have: a platform to share and promote the work of artists and writers with a special audience, and a channel to share the voices of people who desire to be seen and heard in a spiritual conversation.

We are self-funded until we incorporate planned revenue streams (aka, no one involved has quit their day jobs). As a growth endeavor, it is meaningful to us to establish the forum and develop it in progress–much like we develop in life. There will be many evolutions and graduations as we grow into community. For now, contributions are unpaid. We start with fellowship. We’ll grow into business.

Diverse voices

We are committed to growing a diverse community, composing ourselves of voices across as many identities and constructs as occur in internet society. We believe that we are only as rich the tapestry we weave together. So, bring on your stories. Share Soul Growth Radio with friends and strangers. Invite the people you are curious to hear from.
